Grading
I update my gradebook as often as possible - typically every day. However, if a student turns something in late, that assignment is not a priority to be graded. I will grade it within a week of submission and will update the gradebook. I do not grade work until after powerpath days. Students have plenty of time to turn it in before it shows up as missing in the gradebook. If it is turned in late, it may not be graded the same day. Current Events Midterm grades are due on Monday, February 22 Classroom Wish List
Grading Policy
Missing Assignment If a student has not turned an assignment in to me on the due date, I put "Missing" in place in the grade book until the assignment has been turned in. Once the assignment is turned into me, I will grade it as quickly as time allows, and the grade will be corrected. Late Work I do not take points off for late work unless specifically stated on the assignment. Presentations and projects cannot be completed late without a valid reason. Without a valid reason, what is turned in will be graded. Corrections All students can correct work below a B (79% or below). Corrected work will get half points back to raise the grade. Test and quiz corrections are due within a week of the quiz/test being returned. There are few exceptions to corrections including, but not limited to:
About MeThis is my fourth year at Bernheim Middle School but my first as the 8th grade Science Teacher. I was born in Aberdeen, Ohio - a small town along the Ohio River at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. I graduated from Berea College with a Bachelor's in Middle School Science education in 2017. I enjoy hiking, genealogy research, creative writing, and Norse history. As a life-long learner, I can always be found with a new personal project for my house (Pinterest is key) or a way to make my life more efficient. I moved to Kentucky for college but I have found a deep love for the state and hope to remain here to teach. The people, the culture, and the beautiful scenery have made me a life-long Kentuckian.
I have chickens, 2 dogs (Ozzy and Dizzy), and 2 cats (Tardis and Abraham)! Below: Sixth grade students studying 3D printers after creating their own 3D prints in TinkerCad. Printing completed by NWA3D printers received from the Bullitt County Foundation for Excellence Grant.
